It has been brought to my attention that Sally Apokedak, a regular around here, recently won in Round II of the “Out of the Slush Pile” award over at the blog Novel Journey. You can read the award-winning chapter (and it’s very good, I might add) at http://noveljourney.blogspot.com/2007/12/button-girl.html. Her book is called The Button Girl. Here’s hoping we see it someday on bookstore shelves everywhere.
Congratulations, Sally!

Congrats! This is great stuff… do we have to wait too long to read the rest??

    Thanks for mentioning this, Jonathan.
And thanks, Jess. You have only to wait until some publisher recognizes my brilliance and snaps the book up. Prayers to that end would be greatly appreciated. 🙂

I’ve found that God is more interested in tearing down idols and building up faith than in giving me what I’d like. I’ve been asking God for a book contract and he’s been giving me patience instead. He’s good that way. Like a mother dishing up broccoli when the kid asks for candy.

Sally, I love it. Really. I want more. So…if we all prayed really, REALLY hard (and loudly), do you think you’d be able to give us the rest of it sooner than later????

Canaan, prayer does change things, but not always in ways we imagine. But God does say in His Word that we don’t have because we don’t ask, so I think asking fervently is a good thing. How will God answer? It will be exciting to find out.
Again, Sally, congratulations. It IS a wonderful chapter.
