On the back side of the cedar fence is a cutting garden featuring zinnas, basket flower, cosmos, gomphrena, and snapdragon (deceased). The hope was to get a few cut flowers in time for the wedding. We got a very few, but things are looking up now. Our plan is to use these beds as a “biannual nursery” fall through spring and as a cutting garden late-spring through summer.

Beyond the cutting garden is a not-yet-completed greenhouse made from reclaimed windows we bought on Facebook Marketplace. Since we didn’t complete the greenhouse in time to start seeds for this season, we left it open and breezy. The plan is to complete it in the fall or winter, in time to start seeds for next spring.

The greenhouse backs up to an open shed that was the first thing we built for the Wedding Garden project. Beyond the shed is the beginnings of a new compost area. We currently have one bay made from recycled pallets; we’ll add two more bays in the near future. 

The work area (greenhouse, shed, compost area) is not fit for human consumption and isn’t part of the tour. Please don’t go beyond the cutting garden.
