Starting on September 17, spend six weeks with the delightful March sisters in Writing with Jo. How does Louisa May Alcott create such a vivacious yet relatable character as Jo March? How does she make us care so deeply about the lives and happenings of all four of the March sisters, and why does the story still speak to a modern audience?

In six 90-minute lectures, we will study Little Women through the lens of a writer, looking closely at the principles and techniques by which Louisa May Alcott creates the memorable characters, places, and stories that we love so much. Then, through weekly writing exercises and mutual feedback and discussion with your classmates, you will apply Alcott’s principles and techniques to your own writing.

Writing with Jo includes six 90-minute live lectures* via Zoom, as well as a dedicated online forum for discussion and writing exercises.

*Recordings of the lectures will also be available for learners who can’t attend the live lectures.
